How Gladskin Eczema works

Do you have a dry, itchy or inflamed skin?

Billions of bacteria live on our skin. We now know good bacteria are essential for the protection of our skin and vital in maintaining a healthy skin condition. But there are also bacteria, like S. aureus, that can cause inflammation and symptoms such as itch, redness and rashes and trigger flare-ups.

Gladskin Eczema is the world’s only product that targets just the harmful S. aureus bacteria. Unlike conventional products, Gladskin leaves the good bacteria - essential for healthy skin - intact. It is a harmless but real active solution, suitable for long-term daily use.

Itch and redness
are significantly reduced

Eczema

  • What is eczema?

Eczema is a skin condition that can take many different forms. The most common form is atopic eczema (caused by genetic predisposition). In many cases the exact cause of eczema is unknown.?Eczema may be characterised by:

    • dry skin
    • redness
    • flaking
    • cracking
    • itching
    • pain or a burning sensation

Eczema may appear on different parts of the body:

    • in the skin creases
    • around the elbows, knees, wrists and ankles
    • often the hands and feet are affected as well
  • What causes eczema?

It is assumed that eczema is caused by a combination of factors. One of these is a congenital abnormality in the epidermis which reduces the skin's natural barrier function, in combination with a predisposition to hypersensitivity reactions to particular substances or stimuli. This can manifest itself as an inflammatory reaction of the skin. This inflammatory reaction leads to unpleasant itching and redness of the skin, which may develop into eczema.?The Staphylococcus aureus bacterium can cause inflammation of the skin and aggravate the symptoms of eczema.

  • Do I have eczema?

If you want to know if you have eczema, it is best to consult your GP or dermatologist.

Gladskin Eczema

  • What does Gladskin Eczema do?

Probably your most important question is what might you expect from using Gladskin Eczema.?This is what the product does for many users:

    • It soothes the skin
    • It reduces irritation, redness and itching
    • It prevents inflammation
    • It contributes to a healthy bacterial balance of the skin
  • How exactly does Gladskin Eczema work?

Your skin contains billions of bacteria, both good and bad ones. Generally speaking, the numerous good bacteria are indispensable for healthy skin, while it is the minority of bad bacteria that cause the irritation, inflammation and itching. The latter is usually caused by the Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacterium. Eczema may be complicated by infections. In most cases, such infections are caused by these S. aureus bacteria. Remarkably, the number of S. aureus bacteria will increase if the eczema is more severe. This is because a breakout-prone eczema skin is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. The presence of the S. aureus bacterium may also lead to inflammations and thus aggravate the itching and redness caused by eczema. Gladskin Eczema is the first product that targets only these S. aureus bacteria. Whereas other products kill not only the bad bacteria but also the indispensable good ones, Gladskin leaves the beneficial bacteria intact. This helps the natural recovery of your skin.

  • Eczema Cream or Gel?

People with eczema are advised to use the Eczema Cream. The cream is especially developed for people with eczema who have a dry and sensitive skin. Do you have an allergy to any ingredients of the cream? In that case the Eczema Gel in combination with your daily moisturizing cream can provide you a solution.

How to use and ingredients

  • How should I use Gladskin Eczema?

For best results, it is important that you use Gladskin Eczema correctly.

    • Use Gladskin Eczema consistently two to three times a day: mornings and evenings
    • Apply Gladskin Eczema on and around the eczema prone areas (it is not necessary to apply a thick layer)
    • Leave this to work for 5 minutes
    • Afterwards, you can use your other skincare products if required
  • For how long can I use Gladskin Eczema?

You can use Gladskin Eczema for as long as is necessary. Gladskin Eczema can have an immediate soothing effect, but it may also take a number of weeks before you experience the optimum effect. This may be because your skin needs time to recover. We therefore recommend that you use Gladskin Eczema for at least four to six weeks. Occasionally Gladskin Eczema does not work at all - we have to be honest about this. This occurs when your eczema is not caused or aggravated by the S. aureus bacterium which Gladskin Eczema targets.?If you have any specific questions about your skin, we always recommend that you see your GP or dermatologist. You should also consult them if you are already using medication or a hormonal cream for eczema.

  • When not to use Gladskin Eczema?

If you are hypersensitive to lanolin, it is better to avoid the cream and to use Gladskin Eczema gel instead.

  • How to store Gladskin Eczema?

For an optimal effect of the active ingredient Staphefekt we advise to store Gladskin Eczema Cream products, with Staphefekt, refrigerated. Do you prefer to store the Cream outside of the refrigerator? It is possible to store the Cream at room temperature, however the shelf life will be limited to 3 month after purchase.
Gladskin Eczema Gel products, with Staphefekt, can be stored at room temperature. Avoid exposure to temperatures of below 0ºC and above 25ºC.

  • What is the shelf life of Gladskin?

The exact expiration date of the product is always stated on the bottle. All Gladskin products have an expiration date of six months after purchase.

    9 year old eczema

I bought this product reluctantly, because, to be honest, I have tried every cream/lotion and ointment for my daughter.  She has recently had yet another eczema infection and skin not looking good.  This product seems to be doing the trick at the moment, very cooling on the skin (as kept in the fridge) and her skin is looking so much clearer and less irritated!  I hope this is the product I can keep coming back to, to help my daughter - fingers crossed :)

    Certainly improved matters considerably

Been using Gladskin for about 6 weeks now.  The inflamation and size of the eczema has reduced considerably.  It hasn't gone but it is a third of the size now and doesn't irritate anything like it did before.

    Such an improvement

I have been having aggressive treatment for several years, my condition was described as being complicated and difficult. I was often covered from neck to ankle with eczema.

Using this product has improved my condition dramatically. I feel I have my life back. I feel so much better too.

    Partial success with gel

I have active eczema on my eyelids, mouth, neck and fingers for the last 15 years and have been using Gladskin for over ten weeks. I started with the cream for the first 6 weeks, which made my eczema on my face and neck flare very badly and my eyes swell, until I read here on the reviews page that other people found the lanolin in the cream irritating. I switched to the gel and the swelling in my eyes went away instantly, and the eczema has gone down enough that I haven't needed cortisone/Protopic on my eyes since then (for the first time in over a decade). My fingers are a little better when I use the cream, (not the gel) but the rest of my eczema is as active as ever. The downside I found with the gel is that if you have very dry skin -especially after showering/washing your face- then applying and leaving the gel work on unmoisturised skin for 10 minutes before using moisturiser is complete and utter torture, often to the point that it feels like it's harmful. It would be great to see Gladskin figure out a way to produce the moisturiser without using an ingredient that many people with eczema are allergic to. My dermatologist was fairly critical of the product's effectiveness, but I would definitely recommend trying it.

    Certainly effective

I've had eczema for 50 years now. I have it generally fairly well controlled, but on my hands it's been a nightmare. I've been using the strongest steroids for years, and my skin is very thin, but even then it was covered in eczema, and open in so many places, and devastatingly itchy. 9 weeks into using Gladskin twice a day, they are still a bit red, but now the skin is closed, and I've been able to reduce my steroid use as well. Don't know where I'll end up with this, but for the moment I'm very encouraged, and would recommend that anyone with eczema should give this a try. It's pretty miraculous!

    Definite improvement

I bought this product for my son who suffers from eczema on his face. In particular he suffers recurrent infections on his upper lips and eyelids. After using Gladskin eczema on his upper lip there was an immediate improvement on a region of open inflamed skin that had been weeping and not healing for weeks. Within a week his upper lip healed and s remained so. There has been an improvement in the skin on his eyelids, but not complete healing. I use Gladskin in addition to an anti fungal cream and this seems to keep the skin flare ups to a low level, though does not completely heal the skin.

    Relief

Started using Gladskin cream for facial eczema ten weeks ago and within a day or two the scaly skin disappeared.  I am experimenting with the frequency - applying it every two or three days seems to keep eczema at bay but after three or four days it returns.
Gave some to my eldest son and have bought the 100ml size this time around as I will keep using it.  The cost seems high but only because I do not usually buy beauty products, my wife thinks it is reasonable.

Early days ... but so far so good

Been using Gladskin Eczema for three days now.  While my eczema is still very red, it is less itchy, not as sore and less dry as well.  Will keep using and  hope for more improvement over the longer term.  Cautiously optimistic that I can ditch the steroid cremes soon.

Delighted that it continues to work

Have bought both Gladskin eczema gel and the cream. Prefer the cream so that gets used when I'm at home with the use of a fridge,as suggested. Just back from a holiday which used to mean an increase of eczema due to air con, different water, food etc etc, Not this time.Took the Gladskin eczema cream with me which made all the difference. Placed an order for more as I'm confident I'll use all the cream before the three month date.

    Varicose Eczema

I have suffered with varicose eczema for the last six years and it was spreading and getting worse despite all the creams and lotions prescribed by my GP.  I saw this on BBC2 TMID and thought I would give it a try......WOW  my eczema has really improved, it will never heal completely until I get my varicose veins treated which I am just about to do but the difference in my skin and the itching is very noticeable.  I am continuing to use Gladskin along with Moogoo moisturiser and hope that once my varicose vein has been treated I will be able to bare my legs again.

    Eczema on eyelids

I have suffered from eczema around my eyes and on my eyelids for several years . When using hydrocortisone it was gone quickly, but never for long. For two months now I'm using gladskin and so far it works fine. (Almost) no more itching and a healthy skin around my eyes. The eczema stopped! I am very happy!

I also have eczema in great places in my neck but that did not go away with gladskin yet.

    What a find!

I was left with vaginal eczema after suffering with Vaginal atrophy and several infections. Although my gynaecologist treated my infections neither she or my GP were helpful with the treatment of the eczema. I was left with a very sore, red and inflamed vagina which was extremely painful.
Luckily I had seen "trust me I'm a doctor" and found your product. I have been using the cream twice a day for nearly 4 weeks and I am delighted with the results. it is about 90% cleared and I can feel it getting better day by day.

I was born with Eczema and suffered with it badly on my face until I was about 19 when I appeared to grow out of it but have suffered with flare ups all my life. But nothing prepared me for vaginal eczema. Thank you Gladskin after suffering down below for 8 months finally I feel "normal" again.

    Genuinely wonderful

Typical story - I'm 40 and have had eczema all my life. As a little girl I was in Great Ormond Street and, unfortunately, am still waiting to grow out of it. Can't eat an assortment of food, am allergic to animals, washing powder, make-up, dust, stress, water (depending on where we are living), and people who like to point out 'oh, your skin looks sore'..

Normally I can manage it or compromise (if I have the 'wrong' sort of chocolate, I know I'm going to have sore lips in the morning). However, every so often it starts getting red and the creams and potions don't seem to work any longer.  It makes complete sense that there is some bacteria on the skin that inflames the cracked and sore skin and prevents it healing properly.

When I saw this product, it made completely sense. And, despite being very un-hopeful and sceptical after years of experience trying various crack-pot remedies and slightly worried about the cost, I ordered some.

Quite simply, it has worked for me. And for my son who inherited the same dry skin. We've used it on clean skin twice a day, followed by the the hydrocortisone and cortisones we already use.

It hasn't cured our eczema and we still have to avoid all things we are allergic to and take care of our skin. However, it seems to help calm the patches which were red and sore and impervious to ointment and antihistamine.  Both of our skins look and feel so much better  - and that is more than enough in my book.

We're already on our third bottle.  If you've ruled everything else out, I would definitely try it.

    It works for me..

Having suffered with eczema on my lower legs for the last two years, requiring frequent strong steroid treatment, I decided to try the Eczema cream.
    It has worked almost
100%.... every few weeks there's a sensation of it returning in one spot or another - but an immediate micro/(prophylactic ?) application of steroid stops it, and the Gladskin would seem to be keeping it at bay.
My steroid use has reduced 100-fold, and my skin is perfectly clear.
    A very happy customer!

    Its working!

I actually suffer from seb derm, ive been treated with steroid creams and anti biotics for it as a teenager which just exasperated the problem and recently found that changing to sugar free, gluten free and a low carb, high fat diet has helped minimise the symptoms along with using pure sea salt or Himalayan salt only to wash my face with. This cream has then helped take it to the next level removing almost all redness and any signs, the only downside I have is I get one or two spots/pimples in random places after using the cream which has stopped me using it as often as I should. I think I will try the gel next time as it may be the thick emollient type cream clogging pores causing spots. As there isn't a specific product for seb derm I'm going to work through the range until I find the best one

    Life changing

For the past five years I have been reliant on topical steroids to keep frequent facial rashes at bay and had found myself unable to use even two-ingredient prescription creams without allergic reactions lasting up to a week. In addition to this, the eczema on the rest of my body was almost constantly infected. It would respond well initially to oral and topical antibiotics but would shows signs of new infection within days of stopping treatment. Since starting Gladskin Eczema Cream I have been infection free and was able to start moisturising my face and using cosmetics on day 3! I still have eczema but it is no longer ruling my life and it finally feels like a flare up isn't always imminent.

Five days and sleeping better with Gladskin!

For years I've been suffering eczema on my lower legs. The itching ruined many nights' sleep, leaving me more bad tempered and irritable than I would otherwise be! I tried all sorts of creams with varying results but no real success. However, when I started using Gladskin Eczema Cream the itching disappeared within hours.

Now just five days along, the skin, which was red and raw in places, has healed amazingly. It's starting to look normal apart from in the most damaged patches, which are well on their way to recovering. I wish I'd thought to take some 'before' photos because now the 'after' ones won't mean anything!

only cream to give my grandson relief

I bought this for my 9yr old grandson who has had eczema since birth, but for a few months he has been getting tiny spots on the soles of his feet and toes.  They come suddenly and sometimes his feet are clear when he goes to bed but he wakes up with raw red areas, not many but itchy and painful, he has had all the usual cream from GP to help manage it but Gladskin seems to have worked no more raw areas, occasional itch we are all really pleased and can't quite believe it and have done the usual is it a coincidence thing. Anyway he has just finished his first tube and I am about to order another. I am giving 5stars because it is so good to see him comfortable his sister is also using it for her hands and elbows so they have both benefitted.

    It works for my son

I bought this for my 15 year old, who has had eczema for about 10 years. Although steroid cremes have worked in the past, he prefers not to use them. In the first 2 weeks he found that the Gladskin really aggravated his eczema, so he only used it on his elbows and neck. It stung when he put it on and made the whole area much redder and sensitive. He was on the point of giving up, but we persuaded him to persist, and now after 7 weeks these areas are better. Not yet perfect skin, as he has scarring, but healing quickly. No longer itchy or inflamed. He is now using Gladskin on his other areas, knowing that in the long term this initial discomfort will be worth it. What a breakthrough!

Works - after a while but very expensive if you have lots of red patches

It has certainly helped my eczema in terms of reducing redness and itching. It took a few weeks to start being effective. My only issue is I have eczema on quite large areas and even using it sparingly it means I get through >100ml in a month which is really expensive.

    Wonderful relief

I have been using the Gladskin Eczema cream for the last eight weeks and it has been amazing.  I have Lichen Simplex on my hands and feet.  My GP has been prescribing a steroid ointment (Dermovate/Clobetasol) for the last 10 years, which has helped a bit but this was very messy to apply.  I saw the BBC programme about Gladskin and thought I would give the Eczema cream a try.  It has been *amazing*.  It gives instant relief for the itching and my hands noticeably improve within 24 hours.  The other plus is that Gladskin is better for my skin than a powerful steroid ointment.

    Life Changing

I decided to give this a go after hearing about the TV Show and the discussion about the science behind it.

I've tried pretty much everything for eczema and have noticed
how bacteria appears to play a big role. I've used bleach  baths to help keep bacteria counts down in the past, So when I heard about this just affecting the Staph I was curious.

Within the first application of the Eczema Cream on my face I knew this was different than other creams, It felt like it was doing something. I applied in the morning and at night. Within hours of first applying the cream the redness and dryness had drastically reduced.

Over the next few days of applying it my skin felt and looked better than it has done in a long time, It worked so well I instantly ordered more.

Having tried the medicine prescribed by our doctor with little improvement this time round, in desperation, we purchased Gladskin Eczema cream via Amazon (because it priced it in GBP for the UK) and applied it liberally to my daughter's abdomen, arms, neck and face after her evening bath. What followed was a severe histamine response with her abdomen turning bright red, her face swelling and eyes closing. She was in considerable distress and, on medical advice, we administered anti-histamine medication throughout the night and saw a doctor the next day who advised us not to use the cream going forward. On re-reading the info leaflet, there is a small section called "Tip" which states: "If you have a very dry skin, we recommend that you use Gladskin Eczema Cream. If you are allergic to lanolin, you are advised to use Gladskin Exczema Gel." I am not aware of my daughter having a lanolin allergy as she has taken such products in the past without ill effect. However, assuming that, for whatever reason, she does now have an extreme sensitivity to it, I would have hoped that this warning would have been significantly more prominent on the packaging and in the info leaflet itself. I have taken some photos of my daughter's face showing the allergic reaction thinking that I could post them here but the review doesn't allow posting of photos. While I could now purchase the Gel to see if it has the desired effect, I am reluctant to spend a further GBP£50 and would, in truth, regardless of the cost, never forgive myself if I were to cause another allergic reaction of that magnititude. My advice would be, if you are not sure whether your child has a lanolin allergy, but do want to try this product, steer well clear of the Cream, go for the Gel and apply sparingly for the first application so you can do a skin test and be satisfied that it will not make things worse.

    Excellent results on my eczema

70 years old, I've had eczema on the lower half of both my legs for over 20 years.  I won't describe it as severe, as I've seen others with a lot worse, but bad enough to require twice daily application of various ointments, and intermittent courses of steroid creams to keep it in check.  Over the years it has also spread to affect to a lesser extent my back, shoulders and around the nose.
After just a few applications of the eczema cream the redness and itchiness had died down, and it has continued to improve from there.  The rough skin is gradually disappearing, and after just 4 weeks it looks the best it's been for 20 years.
Fantastic results;  steroid creams have come nowhere near it.

    Immediate improvement

My Eczema usually appears as red irritated blotches on my hands and I normally control this with emollient and Hydrocortisone.
Over the last two years things got worse with
the skin on my hands developing deep sore cracks.  I was able to resolve some of these patches with topical steroids of varying strengths but other patches proved very stubborn and refused to heal.
Within a few days of starting to use the Gladskin Eczema cream my skin showed signs of tangible improvement as the inflammation subsided and the cracking started to heal with just my normal emmolient and no steroids.
The cream spreads well and I find one stroke of the pump is enough to treat one hand.  I'm using it twice a day so a 30ml dispenser should last me about two weeks.
    Really impressed.

    Fantastic flexible skin again!

I have been suffering with chronic hyperkeratotic eczema on my hands and nothing seemed to help. The skin was so hard and dry it split constantly. I saw the TV programme on BBC and ordered cream, what an amazing relief, I have flexible skin again! It has taken some weeks of application and only really started to make a big difference when i used cream and gel. I use cream morning and night and gel several times during day.

    78 year old gets relief!

After 28 years of suffering from discoid eczema, with sleepless nights, scratching and all the associated symptoms, I bought Gladskin Eczema cream and had a good night's sleep. Unfortunately managed to get through the bottle in a month - perhaps I was being too generous! I will be ordering more.

    Feels like magic!

I've had Eczema all of my life, everywhere on my head. This has caused problems with my eyes and ears due to the irritation. I've been using Gladskin for 1 month and my skin has cleared up almost totally. I don't spend the day itching and brushing skin flakes off my clothes.

    Brilliant results!

My teenage son has suffered from very bad eczema on his arms for many years. He's been using the cream now for around 6 weeks with fantastic results - no more itching at night and the inflammation and redness is almost non existent - life changing.  Buy it.

    Seems to work!

For years my son has had an eczema on his cheeks, with redness and small pimples. Started to use Gladskin Eczema a month ago and the redness has decreased, also skin on his face is much smoother. We will continue using Gladskin and hope even more better results.
